Ever since I started making the Inside Out characters (Sadness, Joy, and more recently, Anger), BB has been asking me to make Disgust. As I watched BB grow up, I noticed she became more girly. She's into pretty dresses, prints, and textiles and overall has a perfect sense of fashion.
As I created the amigurumi pattern for Disgust, she would point out and remind me to add details to her outfit. For example, her scarf, her shoes, the flare to her dress, her belt, and even her belt buckle, etc.
Like my other amigurumi patterns, I often have to go through a few trials and errors before I am happy with my final product, and this one is no different.
Trying to find the perfect shade of green is not as easy as one would think. I initially tried using what I had in my stash. I used a shade of green for what I thought would work for Disgust's skin color, but my first amigurumi Disgust doll ended up looking like some kind of frog lady.
I was so glad that I got a chance to work with WeCrochet and try out their Brava Worsted yarn because they have such a huge palette of colors to choose from.
I ended up ordering some Brava Worsted yarn in Alfalfa. I was originally shocked by how bright it was. It reminded me of a highlighter green.
I was a little hesitant and thought I must have ordered the wrong green because I thought it might be too bright. But clearly, I was wrong and the color turned out just perfect as you can tell by my photos.
So without further ado, let me share with you the crochet pattern for Disgust.

Notes
- I made this amigurumi doll using the "Yarn Under Single Crochet" technique. This technique makes the stitches tighter and appears more aligned.
- I also used a half-color changing technique to achieve cleaner lines when changing colors from one row to another.
- When working on the hairpiece, I used the underside of the piece as the "outside" or the side that is showing. The curls of the strands will follow a natural curl towards the face.
- I used the invisible fasten-off method to neatly finish the work before I weaved in my ends.
- Final measurements: approximately 12 cm / 4.7 inches

Cut and fasten off with a long strand to sew the hairpiece onto the head. Alternatively, you can use some heavy-duty glue to fix it on the head.
Eyelashes
In the animated movie, Disgust has these long dramatic eyelashes. So instead of embroidering eyelashes, I decided to sacrifice a set of false eyelashes by cutting out two small pieces.
Then, I used some glue to attach them above the safety eyes to give my amigurumi doll some extra glam!
