Easy Easter Eggs FREE Crochet Pattern

| Original: March 25, 2024

Spring has sprung and it comes with a delightful anticipation of Easter! For many years, I kept telling myself that I should create something new for Easter, and then Easter would come and go so quickly before I could start on a project.

Crochet Easter Eggs - FREE Pattern

A few years ago, I crocheted these Carrot Easter Egg cozies. This year, I took up a crochet Easter decor challenge with Hobbii Yarn and decided to crochet these colorful pastel Easter eggs.

These eggs are perfect for both seasoned crocheters and enthusiastic beginners. All you need to know is one type of stitch and how to increase and decrease. You can make these Easter eggs in solid colors, or add color changes like I did to create visual interest.

These crocheted easter eggs are worked in the round, without joining at the end of the round. I used a running stitch marker to keep track of which round I was on.

Stitches & Abbreviations

  • st/sts - stitch/stitches
  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • sc inc - single crochet increase, 2 single crochets in one stitch
  • sc dec - single crochet decrease, single crochet 2 stitches together

Notes

  • This pattern is written in US crochet terms.
  • I made this amigurumi doll using the "Yarn Under Single Crochet" technique. This technique makes the stitches tighter and appears more aligned.
  • Use the ultimate finish to close up the amigurumi Easter egg.
  • Crochet in continuous rounds. Do not join at the end of each round. Use a running stitch marker to keep your place when crocheting in rounds.
  • Crochet color change by finishing the stitch with the new color.
  • Optional: Use the invisible increase and invisible decrease for a nicer finish.
  • Change to a different yarn weight/category and appropriate hook size for this project to make it bigger/smaller.
  • Final measurements: approximately 6.5 cm / 2.6 inches
