Black Stripes and Letters
Surface slst using black yarn. Two stitches on each row to make it look wavy. Then use surface slst to make the letters on the crayon.
Blocking the Crochet Flags
I'll admit that I don't often block my crochet projects. This is due to laziness on my part. However, this is one of those few projects I decided to block because the crocheted crayon flags tend to curl up a bit on the edges without blocking.
Blocking them is easy. It just takes some time. But I did it as the last step after I added the black wavy stripes and letters.
I didn't have any blocking mats or pins. So all I did was soak the crochet flags in water, gently wring out the excess water and lay them out on a towel for them to dry. I stretched them to the shape I wanted and made sure the edges were straight.
