Taylor Swift’s Speak Now era holds a special place in the hearts of Swifties, and it’s easy to see why—her performances during this chapter are nothing short of enchanting. One standout from The Eras Tour is the stunning purple ombre three-tiered gown she wore to bring the magic of Speak Now to life.
Inspired by the album’s signature themes of fairytales, young love, and self-expression, this dress was an instant showstopper. The gradient of lavender to deeper purple hues, paired with sparkling embellishments, embodied the elegance and whimsy of a princess in a modern-day fairytale.
This dress captured my oldest daughter’s imagination the moment she saw it in the Eras Tour concert movie. From the flowing tiers to the glittering details, she was captivated—and I can’t blame her!
She quickly begged me to bring Taylor’s magical gown to life in amigurumi form. How could I resist? As a crochet artist who loves mixing pop culture and fandom into my projects, this was the perfect challenge.
Creating this amigurumi doll was a journey in itself. To replicate the iconic gown, I used a technique of layering crochet tiers to give the dress its cascading effect.
While it may appear as three distinct layers, the dress was actually made using two main tiers, with the third tier crocheted directly underneath the second for extra dimension. This approach not only gave the gown its voluminous look but also stayed true to the original design’s elegance.
This isn’t the first time I’ve drawn inspiration from Taylor Swift. I’ve previously crocheted an amigurumi doll inspired by her You Need to Calm Down music video, complete with a yellow inflatable swim tube and hot pink fur coat.
But this Speak Now-inspired doll holds a special place in my heart, thanks to my daughter’s enthusiasm for Taylor’s iconic performance and the dress itself.
If you’re a Swiftie, a crafter, or both, I hope this project inspires you as much as it has inspired me. There’s something magical about bringing these iconic looks to life in crochet, and I’m thrilled to share the process with you!

Notes
- This pattern is written using US crochet terms.
- Complete the pieces in the specified order to ensure proper assembly later.
- I made this amigurumi doll using the "Yarn Under Single Crochet" technique. This technique makes the stitches tighter and appears more aligned.
- When working on the hairpiece, I used the underside of the piece as the "outside" or the side that is showing. The curls of the strands will follow a natural curl towards the face.
- Crochet in continuous spiral rounds. Do not join at the end of each round unless otherwise stated. Use a running stitch marker to keep your place when crocheting in rounds.
- Use the invisible fasten-off method to neatly finish the skirts before weaving in the ends.
- Optional: Use the half-color changing technique if you want cleaner lines from color changes.
- Optional: Use the invisible increase and invisible decrease for a nicer finish.
- Finished measurements: approximately 16 cm / 6.3 inches
