Studio Vlog #03: Behind the Scenes of My Latest Crochet Projects!

| Original: February 18, 2025

Hey everyone! I’m back with another studio vlog, and I can’t wait to share what I’ve been working on lately. If you enjoy getting a peek behind the scenes of my crochet projects, stick around as I chat about my latest creations, including a brand-new amigurumi doll, the revival of my Candy Heart Pillows, and an exciting new crochet technique!

Learning the Art of Vlogging

I’ve been watching a lot of vlogs lately, trying to figure out how to improve my own. Sometimes I get so mesmerized by how beautifully they’re put together that I forget to work on my own content! But I love the idea of documenting my crochet adventures, so here I am, still learning and experimenting with vlogging.

New Amigurumi Doll: Glinda from Wicked

I’ve been on a roll with making amigurumi dolls, and my latest creation is inspired by Glinda from Wicked! After taking my daughters to see the musical, they absolutely fell in love with Glinda’s character, so I just had to make a doll version of her.

For her dress, I reused the pattern from my Wonderstruck amigurumi doll, tweaking the design slightly for Glinda’s look. I still need to add her crown (because what’s a good witch without a crown?), but she’s almost done! What do you think—should I make Elphaba next?

Revisiting My Candy Heart Pillows

If you’ve been following me for a while, you might remember my Candy Heart Pillow crochet pattern from 2019. Every Valentine’s Day, it becomes the most popular pattern on my blog! Since I originally made them when I was still a crochet beginner, I thought it was time for a little upgrade.

I’m remaking them with Sheepjes Chunky Monkey yarn, which is anti-pilling and should hold up much better over time. I even repurposed my old pillows as stuffing for the new ones! Now, I just need to decide on what phrases to embroider on them—should I bring back my “Netflix and Chill” pillow or try something new? Let me know your suggestions!

Experimenting with Overlay Mosaic Crochet: The Piano Infinity Scarf

My latest obsession? Overlay mosaic crochet! This technique may look complicated, but it’s surprisingly beginner-friendly. I used it to create a Piano Infinity Scarf, and I love how the design turned out! The best part? The backside looks like a negative image of the front, which adds such a cool effect.

This is my first time trying overlay mosaic crochet, and I might’ve been a little ambitious designing a pattern with it right away—but hey, I love a good challenge! My daughter's piano teacher even commented on how amazing it looks. I haven't released the pattern yet, but once it's ready, I'll be sure to share it with you all.

What’s Next?

I’m still fine-tuning these projects, and I can’t wait to share the finished versions with you. If you have any fun phrase ideas for my Candy Heart Pillows, drop them in the comments!
